The village stands on the slopes of the eastern side of the Maiella and is nicknamed "the balcony of Abruzzo" because of its location. Its origins are very ancient and date back to the V-IV century BC, as shown by the findings of some tombs in the district of Fontana. A place rich in beauty, art and history, Pennapiedimonte is a perfect destination for those looking for a stay of culture and relaxation. The houses, partly dug into the rock, are made of local stone and are connected by steps or narrow streets, often accessible only on foot.

The Roman Tower houses inside the museum on the Italic necropolis. Also worth a visit are the Monumental Medieval Fountain and the tombs dating from the V-IV century BC, discovered in 1982. The panoramic point of the village is represented by the locality "Balzolo", where many paths lead to the top of the mountain and from which you can admire the "Cimirocco"A rocky spur that is very reminiscent of the Madonna with the veil on her head and the Child on her knees. Among the most beautiful things that can be admired in Pennapiedimonte there is undoubtedly the Living Nativity, which takes place among the evocative alleys of the small village, with over 20 scenes animated by the inhabitants of Pennapiedimonte and surroundings. In addition to this, there are many activities dedicated to children and other initiatives carried out by volunteers, cultural associations and the Pro Loco of the Municipality to promote the inclusion of the whole community.
