Ovindoli is an important tourist center perched at 1375 meters above sea level that is located within the Sirente-Velino Regional Natural Park, in the so-called "Altopiano delle Rocche", an area surrounded almost entirely by the Apennines. The medieval history of Ovindoli can be found in the upper part of the village where you can see what remains of the walls with the Porta Mutiati, a Gothic arch door that was the access to the fortified village. Another testimony is the Tower of Santa Jona, a hamlet of Ovindoli, built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries to strengthen the defensive system of the Marsica.
