Arpaia (BN) - Campania
Strategically located, the village of Arpaia, is located within a gorge between Mount Tairano and Mount Castle.

Some historians agree that the "throat" would correspond to that narrated by Titus Livius, the place where the humiliating defeat of the "Forche Caudine" of the Roman soldiers would take place. Important strategic point, and obligatory passage of goods and armies directed in Puglia, was over the centuries at the center of war events.
Conquered by the Aragonese in 1438, it was in the possession of Ferrante D'Aragona in 1461, becoming from 1591 onwards, a fief of the Guevara, Arienzo, Carafa, Caracciolo and De Capua families who owned it until the subversion of feudalism.
