Medieval Castle of Laviano

Millenary architecture. Founded around 900 A.D. it tells, for centuries, the story not only of a village, but of an entire valley, which looks from the top of its hill.

The medieval castle of Laviano is one of the most remarkable examples of medieval architecture in Campania. Dating back to the tenth century, the fortress was mainly a defensive function testified by the presence of a moat, crossed by a stone bridge, and an outpost for the lookout, still visible. The fortress, badly damaged by the earthquake of 1980, also preserves the outer perimeter wall, the courtyard and the walls that delimit the first floor and the ground floor. Located on top of the cliff of Olivella, the castle is easily accessible thanks to the installation of the Tibetan Bridge, recently inaugurated.
