Monte Rinaldo (FM) - Marche
Monte Rinaldo is a characteristic borough located in the Marche hills, within the province of Fermo.

From its Belvedere you can admire the Adriatic Sea on one side and the Sibillini Mountains on the other and at the same time enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside.

The historic center, where are located Palazzo Giustiniani and the Civic Tower of Monte Rinaldo, stands on a buttress at 485 meters s.l.m. and its history has its roots in the Roman period, whose testimony can be identified in the grandiose temple that came to light in its territory in the locality "La Cuma" in the late '50s, together with the many traces of Roman villas.

The Roman sanctuary of La Cuma of Monte Rinaldo was built from the middle of the second century B.C. and has known various building phases until the definitive abandonment in the first half of the first century A.D.

It is a place of worship divided into three main buildings arranged on a terrace with a temple dedicated to Jupiter from the uncertain plant but that certainly had a decoration with architectural terracotta on the roof and terracotta sculptures painted on the pediment, as well as the other two buildings that have returned significant fragments of architectural terracotta, now visible in the Civic Archaeological Museum located in the historic center of the country.

Behind the temple there is a monumental colonnaded portico, with Doric sandstone columns on the front and Ionic-Italic inside, datable to the second quarter of the second century B.C. closed by a wall in large square blocks of sandstone: it had the double function of containment of the slope of the hill and of scenographic backdrop, in line with the Hellenistic architectures that at that time spread throughout the Mediterranean.

In the Archaeological Area "La Cuma" are still active excavation campaigns, which year after year bring to the surface new discoveries and make increasingly clear the history of the peoples who lived in the area in past centuries.

The archaeological site is a very important place, available for guided tours and workshops for all schools.
It offers interesting ideas for teaching and deepening on the themes of archaeology, historical research, knowledge and enhancement of the territory, involving school children of all levels through the following proposals of practical workshops designed to educate young people on these issues.

The workshops, which will be held by the museum operators operating on the site with the collaboration and scientific advice of a professional archaeologist, are intended as proposals for work on specific topics and as educational paths that will be structured with the teachers from time to time, taking into account the peculiarities and needs of each working group.

At the request of the reference teacher or of the teaching staff, annual work programmes can be developed on the proposed themes or related topics.

Continuing with history, Monte Rinaldo, like other countries, in the second half of the thirteenth century, depended on Fermo and Fermo passed in 1333 the important castle of Bucchiano for the time, later destroyed in 1378 by Fucaporo, tyrant of Fermo.
Since the disputes and the consequent armed clashes were almost always originated for issues concerning the borders, these were definitively established in 1539 by Mario Favonio di Spoleto, auditor of Cardinal Carpi.
