Alberobello (BA) - Apulia

The Magic city of Alberobello, in Apulia, is characterized by the presence of more than 2000 "trulli", the famous stone houses that make the town famous and that in 1996 were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Famous all over the world for their originality, for their exclusivity and beauty, the trulli represent a valuable example of local folk architecture, witnesses of a period when it was not possible to build fixed dwellings and the inhabitants were forced to invent themselves, building temporary houses with only the support of the local stone.

So symbolic and characteristic that Alberobello is defined as the capital of the trulli.

Each of them has different sizes and shapes: very often they are unique constructions, some of which have two floors, but they can also be joined to create a real complex of houses.

As mentioned, the classic trullo has a cone-shaped roof in grey. The symbols depicted on the outside characterize one trullo on the other and can have various meanings, propitiatory or linked to Christianity.
