Bari Vecchia dates back to the Byzantine period and consists of buildings of various eras. From the reports and documents we know how Bari was from the twelfth to the nineteenth century.  Towards the sea it was fortified by the characteristic wall that is still present today, even if in a reduced way due to the construction of the promenade in the early 1900s. Towards the land it was fortified by large walls surrounded by a ditch full of water, with the castle to the west ended the defensive part. The walls were majestic and were fortified by 4 towers: the two north still present, the tower of Sant'Antonio (rebuilt towards the fourteenth century) and that of Santa Scolastica; to the south the tower of San Domenico and the tower Del Vento.
