Cesarea Tower

The area of Porto Cesareo was, over the centuries, a defensive line that faced invasions by populations from Eastern Europe, Africa or the Middle East. And the remains that remain in that area today can be visited and enchanted by their incredible magnificence.

Torre Cesarea is a sighting tower built, demolished and rebuilt between 1570 and 1622. 16 meters high and with 4 meters thick basic walls, this structure currently houses the offices of the Financial Guard.  Torre Lapillo, on the other hand, is one of the many pieces of the defensive curtain of Charles V. Finished in 1568, it has recently been restored to ensure the visitors on duty an architectural spectacle with few equals in the world.
