Santu Lussurgiu (OR) - Sardinia

Santu Lussurgiu (m. 503 s.l.m.) is located at the foot of the south-eastern slope of the Montiferru chain, and is in the province of Oristano.

Its urban and architectural structure still preserves the memory of the past, boasting one of the best historical centers of Sardinia. The village has a characteristic amphitheater structure that shelters it from the prevailing winds and with the only opening at noon.

Thick woods of holm oaks and chestnut trees surround the town, whose houses have the typical tower structure and the streets, steep and winding, still retain the cobbled. Evocative views are easily enjoyed in every district of the historic center of the village, where the houses are beautifully displayed with exposed stone walls and the characteristic architraves and doors with ancient knockers.

Of the six churches present in Santu Lussurgiu, only two are relevant from the artistic historical point of view: the church of Santa Croce and the church of Madonna degli Angeli.
