Castiglione di Sicilia, One of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is a characteristic medieval center located between Etna and Alcantara. A rich historical-architectural and naturalistic-landscape heritage make it the center of a series of tourist itineraries among the most important of Sicily. Thanks to the presence of numerous wineries, farmhouses, restaurants, wine bars, it is also a privileged destination in food and wine tours.
Called "the quastallum" (the castle) by a well-known Arab geographer, Castiglione di Sicilia rises on a hill located in the middle of the Alcantara Valley and the Etna Park, offering, to anyone who decides to visit, landscapes and breathtaking views among lush orchards, citrus groves and lava flows. Dominated by the Arabs first and became the royal city of Normans and Swabians later, the village is renowned for two particular honors awarded him: the bronze medal for civil merit related to his participation in the Second World War, and the possibility to compete for the title of the most beautiful village in Italy. .
Its beauty, in fact, meant that a regional decree of 1994 declared the municipality as a place of considerable public importance.
